Abbott offers a variety of diagnostic tests for identifying abused drugs and drug toxicity detection in patients.

Drug abuse affects us all – our families, workplaces and communities. Often, recognizing a patient’s non-medical drug use can be the first step towards recovery. Commonly abused drugs include cocaine, barbiturates, phencyclidine and cannabinoids.

Toxicity of certain prescription medications can also be a serious health concern for patients and health care professionals alike. By testing levels of medications such as acetaminophen and tricylic antidepressants in a patient’s bloodstream, doctors can adjust prescribed dosages to best serve the needs of the individual patient.
